NFCA Honors Nine Sailfish Softball Players for Academic Achievement

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- For the second consecutive year, the Palm Beach Atlantic softball team was named one of the top academic teams in the NCAA Division II rankings by being selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Academic teams for 2014-2015.
With over 800 softball players being named to the list in all of Division II, the ‘Fish had nine of their players chosen as NFCA Scholar-Athletes for their achievements in the classroom.
With the ‘Fish having nine players chosen to the NFCA Scholar Athletes list, it puts the Sailfish second in the Sunshine State Conference, as Rollins College lead the way with 11. Both Barry University and Florida Tech had eight athletes receive the award, and Eckerd had seven.
The Sailfish players receiving NFCA Scholar-Athlete recognition includes Theresa Butler, Stephanie Garrels, Josie Huddleston, Amber Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Kayla Knight, Karina Langer, Kayti Lundin, and Shelby Wood.
As a team, the ‘Fish earned a 3.39 combined grade point average.
PBA will open the 2016 season Jan. 29-31 at the Florida Tech Tournament in Melbourne, Fla. And the ‘Fish will open their season at home on Feb. 12.
