TAMPA, Fla. - Senior Kasey Wyer did everything she could on Saturday night, but despite Wyer’s efforts the Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team lost a wild game to the University of Tampa by a final score of 4-3.

The loss drops Palm Beach Atlantic to 4-3-0 on the 2015 season, while Tampa improves to 5-1-1 on the year.

Tampa would dominate most of the first half, striking first in the 10th minute off the foot of Gabby Scirica.  The Spartans would add to that lead 15 minutes later when Cici Gonzalez extended the lead to 2-0.

Just seconds after Tampa’s second goal, the ‘Fish would answer back as Wyer would net her first goal of the night, heading a Haily Johnson cross past the keeper to cut the Tampa lead in half.

Halftime would prove to be an adventure of its own, as a heavy downpour followed by a lightning storm would delay the game for one hour and 10 minutes.

The second half began under rainy conditions, but the wet field did not slow down the goal scorers at all, as Wyer scored her second goal of the evening in the 67th minute, tying the game at two goals each. Monica Rojas would assist on the goal, tallying her 3rd assist on the season.

The Spartans would answer back, as a PBA foul just outside the box set up a free kick by Lauren Moore which would find the net after ricocheting off the post, and gave Tampa a 3-2 lead.

The Spartan lead would last for all of 15 seconds, as a Wyer blast into the corner of the net while falling to the ground would tie the match at 3-3. The goal gave Wyer her first career hat trick and puts her season total at eight goals, leading the team.

A Tampa goal in the 88th minute proved to be the game winning goal, despite Jaime Montgomery’s best effort at an equalizer which banged off the crossbar with just seconds remaining in the contest.

Palm Beach Atlantic will be back in action at the Rinker Athletic Campus on Wednesday, Sept. 30 as they will play host to Florida Tech at 7 pm.  Visit pbasailfish.com for links to watch a live stream of the match as well as live stats.
