Sailfish Softball Adds Seven For Upcoming Season

West Palm Beach, Fla.- Palm Beach Atlantic head softball coach Kimmy Bloemers has officially added seven newcomers to the Sailfish squad.

“This year is a year of not only some new coaches but seven new talents who will wear the Sailfish softball jersey and play on the diamond.” Bloemers said. “Adding to the talented returners, will be speed on the bases, pop in the bats and strength on the mound as well as behind the dish. It will be important for every member to ‘buy in’ to this program so we can reach amazing success as a team. I am looking forward to the hard work and preparation this fall so we can take on the upcoming 2016 season.”
Nikki Brinegar- A new arm for the pitching staff this year is Nikki Brinegar from Clermont, Fla. Before joining the Sailfish, the southpaw played two years at Hillsborough Community College where she was named Co-Pitcher of the Year, Co-Scholar Female Athlete of the Year, and First Team Academic All State.
Before HCC, Brinegar pitched for head coach Ken Pitts at East Ridge High School.
Nikki will be majoring in Biology, and is the daughter of Jon and Angie Brinegar.
Maddie Bertisch- Bertisch will be playing third base as true freshman and is from Palm Harbor, Fla. where she played infield for head coach Kristie Delk at East Lake High School.
Bertisch was named 1st Team All County her senior year at East Lake, and was also 2nd Team All-Tampa Bay.
Maddie will be majoring in Exercise Science, and is the daughter of Michael Bertisch and Jennifer Gutman-Bertisch.
Victoria Boyer- A Utility player for the ‘Fish, Boyer caught, roamed the outfield, and manned the hot corner for head coach Russ Milligan for three years at Center Grove High School. Boyer earned the Class 4A Mental Attitude Award for 2015, she also won a Gold Glove for 2015.
A native of Greenwood, Ind., Boyer will be majoring in Biology with a concentration in Pre-Health, and is the daughter of Holly and Kevin Boyer.
Brianna Skipper- A junior transfer from St. Petersburg College, Skipper will be working behind the plate this year for the Sailfish. Skipper was named to the All Suncoast Conference team and was named the Defensive Player of the Year last season.
Before she played for St. Petersburg College, “Bama” caught for head coach Hannah Arrington for Headland High School. Skipper was named All State, earned a Gold glove, Defensive Player of the Year, and was named to the Rising Stars All American team.
The Headland, Ala. native will be majoring in Biology, and is the daughter of Mike and Tiffany Skipper.
S.J. Collier- Adding depth behind the plate and in the outfield, Collier is a junior transfer from Palm Beach State College where she was named 1st Team All Conference as a freshman and 2nd Team All Conference as a sophomore.
Growing up just down the road, S.J. played for head coach Kevin Drake at American Heritage right here in West Palm Beach, and was a member of the Three-Peat State Championship run for the Stallions.
S.J. will be majoring in Education and minoring in Psychology, and is the daughter of Martha and Kevin Collier.
Olivia Silver- Adding depth to the outfield, the true freshman played for head coach Vergil Morgan at Calvary Christian High School where she as named All Conference second team and honorable mention during her four years with the Knights. Olivia was also a member of the Dean's List and was an Honor Roll student.
The Clearwater, Fla. native will be majoring in Psychology, and is the daughter of Dana and Roy Silver.
Lauren McInnes- A two-sport athlete for the Sailfish, as McInnes also runs Cross Country. The true freshman will add defensive depth to the roster serving as an outfielder for the ‘Fish.
Lauren played for head coach Mike Marcus at Western High School where she was named to the Sun-Sentinel’s 1st Team All-County Team.
A native of Davie, Fla., McInnes will be majoring in Biology with a concentration in Pre-Health, and is the daughter of Sherry and Ross McInnes.
