Women's Golf Finishes 4th at WIU Invitational

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s golf team participated in the 15th Annual WIU Invitational this week. 

The Sailfish finished 4th in the tournament, jumping up from their 5th place standing after round one.    William Carey University finished atop the leaderboard, with a total team score of 636 (+28).
 

Day 1:  PBA posted five rounds in the 80’s on Monday, as the ‘Fish finished with a team round of 334 (+46).  Freshman Tracy Peyton led the ‘Fish in scoring once again, shooting an 82 on Monday.  The round puts her in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard. 

All five Sailfish competing turned in very similar scorecards for round one, as Katie Humphreys (83), Victoria Hays (84), Hayley Betz (85), and Emily Valentine (87), all posted rounds within five strokes of Peyton’s 82.

Day 2:  The Sailfish posted a team round of 332 on Tuesday, two strokes better than Monday’s score.  Emily Valentine shot the low round of the day for the Sailfish, as her 78 on Tuesday was the eighth best round of any golfer for the tournament. 

Katie Humphreys finished with the second best total for the ‘Fish, as the freshman shot her second round of 83 in as many days.  Rounding out the scores for PBA on Tuesday were Victoria Hays (84), Tracy Peyton (87), and Hayley Betz (90). 

The Sailfish will have a couple weeks to prepare for their next event, as they will compete in the Guy Harvey Invitational in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. on October 11th.
