Box Score

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic and Florida Southern College put on a defensive show on Saturday night, but the Sailfish would get a goal in the 85th minute from senior Kasey Wyer to win 1-0. The win improves PBA’s home record to 4-1 on the season.

The first half was full of good defense, with the Sailfish only allowing five shots from Florida Southern (1-3-1) all half, four of which were on goal.  Palm Beach Atlantic (4-2-0) would have a couple of good chances to score, but couldn’t finish any as the match headed to halftime scoreless.

Both teams came out of halftime firing, as the Sailfish and Mocs would both post double-digit shot totals in the second half.  Goaltenders Helena Norrstrom (FSC) and Isabelle Granlund (PBA) would play stellar in net all night as Norrstrom recorded nine total saves and Granlund tallied seven saves herself in the shutout victory.

The match remained scoreless until the 85th minute, when a long pass by sophomore Monica Rojas was received by Kasey Wyer, who would beat the Florida Southern defense and net her 5th goal of the season to give the ‘Fish a 1-0 victory.

The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s soccer team has a week to prepare for the next opponent on the schedule, as the ‘Fish will try to keep their winning streak alive on the road against the University of Tampa next Saturday, September 26th.
