Miller Leads Sailfish Runners at Mountain Dew Invite

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s cross country was back in action on Saturday morning, running at the Mountain Dew Invitational hosted by the University of Florida. The Sailfish finished 16th of 21 teams at the meet.

The field was deep with 34 women’s teams competing including 13 Division I schools. The Sailfish placed 16th out of 21 non-Division I schools.

Leading the way for PBA for the second straight meet was Sophia Miller who placed 64th with a time of 20:45.93. Miller also led the squad in the season-opening race two weeks ago. Alise Montgomery followed Miller with a time of 21:21.08, good for 95th in the field of 205.

The host Gators took the Division I team title with 31 points as they had the top three runners and four of the top-five. Tampa took the non-Division I top spot with 61 points. Saint Leo followed with 76 points and the top runner on this section, Colett Rampf, who clocked in at 17:52.76.

Alyssa Hearing was the third Sailfish across the finish line with a time of 21:38.56 followed by Lexi Fenton at 22:35.56. Kayla Webbe rounded out the scorers with a time of 23.29.18.

The Sailfish are back in action next Friday, Sept. 25, as they head to Titusville to take part in the Florida Runners Invitational.
