WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer team won their home opener Monday night beating Colorado Christian 5-0 in front of a packed Rinker Athletic Campus.

Lucas Countinho got the party started for the Sailfish, scoring in the 12th minute, sending the electric crowd into a frenzy. Coutinho, who was assisted by Jermaine Metz and Cleef Desir, wasn't finished as he scored later in the second half as well.

Lucas Dasilva scored an unassisted goal in the 29th minute on an absolute rocket that beat the keeper to give the ‘Fish a 2-0 lead over the Cougars. The Sailfish weren't finished in the first half, as sophomore Zac Sitler scored his first goal of the year in the 39th minute.

The first 24 minutes of the second half were held without a goal, until Coutinho scored an unassisted goal in the 69th minute.

Sophomore Phill Cardoso hammered the nail in the coffin as he scored his second goal on the year in the 71st minute, as he was also assisted by Jermaine Metz.

The story again for the Sailfish tonight was their defense. The Colorado Christian Cougars only got three shots on goal in the first half, and only one shot on goal in the second half.

Steeven Raymont (3-0-0) played the first 45 minutes and recorded a save for each of the Cougars’ three shots. Jake Fifer and Fernando Cortes split time in the second half, and Cortes picked up a save on the Cougars’ only shot of the second half.

The Sailfish will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 11 as they take on defending NCCAA National Champions Lee University in the first day of the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Men's Soccer Classic hosted by Lynn University. The teams will do battle at 4 pm and the ‘Fish will be back at the Rinker Athletic Campus Saturday Sept. 26, as they host the University of Tampa at 7 pm.
