Sailfish Open Season With Big Win, Beat Georgian Court 7-2

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer team opened their 2015 season with an easy win Thursday afternoon, beating the Georgian Court Lions 7-2 in Miami Shores, Fla.
The Sailfish hit the scoreboard first with a goal off the foot of Cleef Desir in the 10th minute. The Lions scored their first of two goals in the 29th minute to tie the score again, which would be the closest the score would be for the rest of the match. Lucas Coutinho tallied his first goal of the year in the 36th minute, giving the ‘Fish a 2-1 advantage, which would be the score at the end of the half.
Oscar Farias wasted no time in the second half, scoring his first of two goals on the game in the 47th minute, with his second goal coming four minutes later in the 51st minute.
Lucas DaSilva added another goal for the ‘Fish in the 66th minute to extend the Sailfish lead to 5-1, before Georgian Court’s Craig Smith scored two minutes later. DaSilva was not done yet, as he added his second goal of the game in the 80th minute to give the Sailfish the 6-2 lead. Freshman Juan Pablo Puelma scored for the ‘Fish in the 87th minute to bring the game to it’s final score of 7-2.
The Sailfish will be back in action Saturday afternoon in Miami Shores for the final day of the Barry Showcase, where the ‘Fish take on University of North Georgia. The game time is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
The men’s soccer team will kickoff their home campaign on Monday Sept. 7, vs Colorado Christian University at 7 pm.
