Men's Soccer Takes Down Wilmington 6-0 in Exhibition Tune-up

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Sailfish men’s soccer team played host to Wilmington University Tuesday afternoon in a preseason exhibition. The Sailfish had their way with the Bobcats, as the ‘Fish won 6-0.
The first half was the Lucas Coutinho show, as the junior scored the only two goals in the first half. Coutinho scored in the 9th minute, and was assisted by Cameron Roberts; and later scored off an assist from Cleef Desir in the 27th minute.
Sophomore Lucas DaSilva opened up the second half for the Sailfish scoring an unassisted goal in the 59th minute to extend the Sailfish lead to 3-0. He was shortly followed by a goal from junior Oscar Farias, who was assisted by Jermaine Metz in the 61st minute.
Senior Juan Jose Morales followed in Coutinho’s direction by adding two goals of his own, scoring in the 74th and 75th minute to bring the game to its final score of 6-0. Morales’ goals were assisted by Phill Cardoso, and Eddy Milien, respectively.
Keepers Steeven Raymont, Fernando Cortes, and Jake Fifer combined for a clean sheet; with Raymont making three saves in 60 minutes of play, and Cortes making two saves in just under three minutes of play.
The Sailfish are back in action for one more preseason exhibition this Saturday, at home against fellow SSC provisional member Embry-Riddle University, and is set for a 4:30 pm start time.
The Sailfish open the regular season Thursday, Sept. 3 against Georgian Court University in the Barry University Showcase, and open up their home schedule Monday September 7th vs Colorado Christian University at 7 pm.
