Sailfish Tennis Teams Finish Season Nationally Ranked

SKILLMAN, N.J. – After another strong season on the courts both Palm Beach Atlantic tennis teams find themselves ranked in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Top 50 ranking of the 2015 season. The women’s team, who finished 16-6 on the campaign, finished the year ranked No. 37 nationally by the ITA while the men, who went 21-4 and finished runner-up at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournament, climbed to a program-best No. 30 to end the year.

The ITA national rankings on the men’s side feature five Sunshine State Conference (SSC) teams in the top-50, including 2015 NCAA Division II National Champion Barry University at the No. 1 spot, while the women have an even bigger presence with six of the leagues’ members ranked within the top-50.

Both teams spent the entire spring season in the ITA rankings, with the women’s squad topping out at No. 32 and the men finishing the season at a program-best No. 30.

Ranked on the individual side for the women was senior Veena Vasquez, who finished the year as the No. 24 singles player in the country. For the men, Nicolas Uryson ties a program-best with his individual ranking of No. 22.
Armstrong State University earned the top spot on the women’s side in the final ITA rankings after claiming the NCAA Division II team title.
