BOCA RATON, Fla. – Sailfish senior Brian Walker continued his run at postseason awards on Thursday afternoon, being the first player in Palm Beach Atlantic baseball history to be named to the Daktronics All-Region first-team for his 2015 season.
The Deerfield, Fla. native was one of 32 student-athletes selected to the two teams. Voting is conducted among sports information directors from the Gulf South Conference, Sunshine State Conference and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The SSC has 20 selections, GSC schools picked up 11 honorees and independent Palm Beach Atlantic had the final accolade.
Walker, who only yesterday was named to the NCBWA All-Region second-team, joins former teammates Nic Kovacs and Joel Buchko as the only three players to receive All-Region honors from Daktronics in the NCAA Division II era.
Brian’s last season in a PBA uniform saw him lead the team in batting average (.410), on-base percentage (.461), hits (75), stolen bases (29), and hit-by-pitch (14), while also sitting amongst the team leaders in runs (35), doubles (11), and runs batted in (31). During the course of the season he was held hitless in just five games that he started and at one point put together a 20-game hitting streak.
Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) World Series beginning Wednesday, May 20th in Mason, Ohio.
