Sailfish Tennis Starts 2-0 at NCCAA Nationals

MOBILE, Ala. – Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis started off the 2015 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournament on the right foot Tuesday, defeating Indiana Wesleyan University 5-3 before going on to defeat Dallas Baptist University 5-0 in the first round of pool play.

The 2-0 start to pool play all but punches the ticket to the national semi-finals, which will be played on Thursday, May 7th.

Match One
PBA opened up the tournament with a tremendous match against Indiana Wesleyan, narrowly defeating the Wildcats 5-3.

IWU held a 2-1 advantage after the doubles round, with the Sailfish duo of Nicolas Uryson and Romain Nowaczyk winning their pairing 8-5. However, the Sailfish would come storming back on the singles side to come away with the victory.

Uryson brushed aside Indiana Wesleyan’s number one 6-0, 6-1, while Nowaczyk made fairly quick work of the Wildcats’ number two, 6-4, 6-2.

Nicholas Battistini and Fernando Arroyo secured the match victory for the ‘Fish, winning 7-5, 7-5 and 6-4, 6-4 respectively.

Match Two
Palm Beach Atlantic made quick work of Dallas Baptist University in the second match of pool play, coming out with a dominating 5-0 victory over the Patriots.

Uryson and Nowaczyk once again got the Sailfish started off right, winning 8-2 as the top doubles pair. Mark Heimberger and Nicholas Battistini took down the DBU number two team by an 8-4 score, while Fernando Arroyo and Matt Leeds also won their matchup by a score of 8-4.

The singles side left four matches unfinished as Uryson and Battistini rolled to quick finishes of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-2 respectively.

With one match of pool play left, Palm Beach Atlantic will take on 0-2 Cedarville University at 10 am EST.
