The men’s NCAA Division II region is awarded seven bids to their respective regional tournament, with the Sailfish currently occupying the number seven spot in the South Region rankings. The South Region contains three automatic bids coming from the three represented conferences which include the Gulf South Conference (GSC), Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAC) and the Sunshine State Conference (SSC). The remaining four teams come from at-large bids and are determined by the South Region Tennis Committee.
On the women’s side only six teams are awarded bids to the regional tournament with three automatic qualifiers, making the tournament extremely difficult to reach for PBA with just three at-large bids available.
All three conferences award their automatic bids through the crowning of a postseason tournament champion. Barry University is the top team in both men’s and women’s tennis from the Sunshine State Conference, with both teams finishing with undefeated records in conference play and then winning the conference championship. The University of West Florida secured the Gulf South Conference bids on both the men's and women's side as well.
The NCAA Regional Tournament will be played Sun.-Wed., May 3-6 at announced campus sites.
