Womens Tennis Rolls Past Eckerd, Win 8-1

St. PETERSBURG, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s tennis team was victorious Sunday afternoon, beating Eckerd College 8-1. The win Saturday was their 10th in a row, bringing the Sailfish to 16-5 on the season.

The Sailfish wasted no time, making a clean sweep of the Tritons in doubles competition. Veena Vasquez and Valerie Nagovitcina picked up an 8-4 win, they were followed by the duo of Yoanna Peshev and Maja Jovic, who won 8-0. Rounding out the doubles side of things, Leyla Taracena and Michaela Mignemi won 8-1.

The Sailfish kept rolling on the singles side of things as well. Vasqeuz picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win in the top spot. Nagovitcina won 6-1, 6-3. Peshev was victorious 6-3, 6-4. Jovic won 6-2, 6-1, and Mignemi won 8-1.

The Sailfish conclude their regular season this Saturday afternoon as they head to Davie, Florida to take on Nova Southeastern University at 2 pm. The Sharks are currently 17-1 and ranked No. 4 nationally.
