Sailfish Bats Go Silent in Finale With Tars, Fall 4-2

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic scuffled at the plate on Sunday afternoon, managing just three hits against a duo of Rollins College pitchers on the way to a 4-2 loss at Rubin Park.

With PBA already trailing 1-0 thanks to an unearned run in the top of the first, Pat Kane led off the game with an infield single for the Sailfish. The junior advanced to second on a throwing error, stole third, and then tied up the score on a groundout by Chris Farrell.

Sophomore Sean Visconti got a two-out infield single in the third inning, and Kevin Fry added a bunt single in the fifth to account for the three for the game. None of the hits left the infield.

PBA’s second run of the game came after the Tars had taken a 3-1 lead, with the Sailfish loading the bases up for the middle of their order. Farrell was successful again bringing home the run, this time reaching thanks to a fielder’s choice and error. After an infield flyout for the second out of the inning, Fry was caught trying to steal home and ended the threat.

Starting pitcher Logan White (Loss, 1-1) tossed a quality start for the Sailfish, going six innings and allowing just two earned runs. Sophomore Sean Horner threw the final three innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out a pair.

Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action on Tuesday evening when they host Nova Southeastern University at Rubin Park at 6:00 pm.
