WINTER PARK Fla. – After a thrilling come-from-behind victory last night, Palm Beach Atlantic jumped out in front early and maintained their lead throughout the games' entirety on Thursday afternoon, leading to an exciting 5-3 win road win over Rollins College at Alfond Stadium.
Jason Webb started the scoring for the ‘Fish by grounding a triple down the right field line that scored Brian Walker from first and gave PBA a 1-0 lead. The Sailfish took a 2-0 lead when senior Chris Farrell drove his fifth home run of the season and second of the series to right field in the fourth inning.
Palm Beach Atlantic tacked on two more thanks to a two-out, two-run single with the bases loaded by sophomore Peter Rivera. With the Tars scoring a single run in the sixth, PBA put the final nail in the coffin in the ninth frame when Sean Visconti singled home Jake Summey to make the score 5-1.
Rollins put together a rally in their final at-bat, scoring two runs and bringing the go-ahead run to the plate before a Eric Russell strikeout ended the threat.
Starter Tyler Scheuer (Win, 3-1) tossed a gem for six innings before handing the ball off to Sean Horner. Scheuer struck out four, allowed six hits, hit a batter and didn’t surrender a walk, while Horner threw two shutout innings, gave up two hits, struck out two and walked a batter.
Summey, Visconti, and Webb all put together two-hit ballgames for the Sailfish, while Rivera led the way with two runs batted in.
Palm Beach Atlantic continues this split four-game series with Rollins at home on Saturday night when the Sailfish and Tars do battle at 3:00 pm.
