DAVIE, Fla. – One sour inning spoiled the Palm Beach Atlantic baseball trip south to take on No. 5-ranked Nova Southeastern Tuesday night, giving up a six spot in the second en route to an 11-4 defeat from the NSU Baseball Complex.
NSU put a run on the board in the first inning against starter Kyle Polaski (Loss, 3-3) but saw their lead disappear as Sean Visconti drove in a pair of runs with a single in the top of the second to give PBA a 2-1 advantage. That would be the last time that the Sailfish were out in front on the night, as the Sharks struck for six runs on five hits, including a two-run homer, in the decisive second inning.
After Nova Southeastern added two runs in the home half of the sixth inning, Palm Beach Atlantic mounted a rally in the top of the seventh. Trailing 9-3 thanks to a Jake Summey two-out triple and Pat Kane RBI single, the ‘Fish loaded the bases with nobody out in the frame, but only managed to score one run on a double-play ball. The Sharks would add two more in the bottom of the eighth to put the game away for good.
PBA was led at the plate by Chris Farrell and Peter Rivera, who each continued their hot hitting on the season with two-hit performances.
The Sailfish return to action on Wednesday night when they travel to Winter Park, Fla. to take on Rollins College at 6:00 pm.
