WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- After closing out his time in a Palm Beach Atlantic uniform this past fall, Modesto Arostegui recently signed a professional contract with Cibao FC in his native country of the Dominican Republic.

Cibao FC is a professional club based in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, and is in their inaugural season in the Liga Dominicana de Futbol.

Arostegui was a two-year member of the Sailfish men’s soccer team after transferring to PBA from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. In his two years at PBA, he tallied 1,200 minutes for the ‘Fish in a defensive role.

PBA head coach Brian McMahon has been following the progression of Arostegui’s professional pursuits and sees a bright future for his former player.

“We are very proud of Modesto and his opportunity to continue playing at the professional level. He was a great ambassador for the program during his time here and I’m sure it will pave the way for others to follow soon.”

Arostegui has made an immediate impact for Cibao FC, coming off the bench in his first game with the club helping them come back from a 2-0 deficit, and has started and played all 90 minutes in each contest since. Cuba FC is currently in second place in Liga Dominicana de Futbol, and is looking to make a push at winning the title in their first year in the league.
