WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic rebounded nicely from a double-header loss on Saturday with an 11-3 thumping of Barry University on Tuesday night at Rubin Park.

PBA made the game a blowout with a six-run fifth inning, taking advantage of two BU errors while pounding out four hits in the frame. Peter Rivera launched a double to kick off the inning, and after an error and a walk loaded the bases, Andrew Calderone singled home two runs and got the ‘Fish rolling.

Kyle Simon kept the inning going with a single through the left side, and Ryan Johnson came through with a bases-loaded walk that brought home another run. The nail in the coffin came thanks to a Chris Farrell single that brought home two more runs and made the lead 10-1.

Palm Beach Atlantic’s pitching combination of Kennie Silvestri (Win, 2-0) and David Paul (Save, 2) made life difficult for Barry, scattering 12 hits and allowing just three runs while striking out nine and walking four.

The scoring got started right away for the Sailfish, with Pat Kane and Sean Visconti crossing the plate thanks to a wild pitch and Sailfish double play.

After the Buccaneers came back with a run of their own in the top of the second, the ‘Fish answered right back with a run of their own on a Visconti fielder’s choice. The third inning gave PBA a 4-1 advantage when Rivera led off the inning with a double and came around to score on consecutive wild pitches. The final Sailfish run of the game scored in the sixth when Jason Webb scored on a wild pitch and made it 11-2.

Kane, Rivera and Calderone each had two-hit performances for the Sailfish, who improve to 16-9 on the season.

Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action on Wednesday evening when they play host to the Northwood University Seahawks at 6:00 pm at Rubin Park.
