Sailfish Remain Hot, Win Ninth Straight Match

LAKELAND, FLA- The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis team won Friday afternoon, giving the Sailfish their ninth consecutive victory on the year. For the first time in program history, the Sailfish beat Florida Southern College 6-3 at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center in Lakeland.

The Sailfish came into the match red hot after winning their previous eight matches, after started the season 1-2. After dropping the first doubles set, the Sailfish duo of Mark Heimberger and Matt Leeds were too much for the Moccasins to handle, as they won 8-3. The Mocs won the third doubles set, giving them the 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.

Nicholas Uryson got things going for the ‘Fish, as he won 6-3, 6-4. Romain Nowaxzyk followed up with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Heimberger was victorious in the third spot, winning 6-1, 2-6, 6-3, which gave the Sailfish a 4-2 advantage in the match. Junior Asti Adams won the fourth consecutive singles set, winning 6-0, 2-6, 6-4 to seal the deal against the Moccasins. Leeds finished off the afternoon for the Sailfish with a 6-3, 6-0 win.

The Sailfish head to Lake Wales, Fla Saturday afternoon to take on Warner University. The match is set for 4:00pm.
