Women's Golf Completes First 2 Rounds of Barry Invitational

MIAMI SHORES Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s golf team opened up play at the Barry University Lady Bucs’ Invitational Monday at Shula’s Golf Club playing the first 36 holes of competition. This is the team’s third tournament in the last 8 days.  The tournament is filled with very tough competition for the ‘Fish, as 11 of the 15 teams in the field are nationally ranked in the Top 25 of NCAA Division II.

Nova Southeastern University, No. 2 ranked nationally, is leading the tournament after the second round with a total score of 6-over par.  They hold a one shot lead over Rollins College, who is nationally ranked No. 5.  The Sailfish are in 15th after day one, with their first round score being 374 and second round very similar at 373.   

Freshman Taryn Runnels has the best score through the first two rounds for the Sailfish, as she followed her first round of 93 with an impressive second round score of 81.  She was followed closely by sophomore Hayley Betz, who shot rounds of 87 and 89.  They were followed on the leaderboard by teammates Emily Swidok (96-98), Michelle Turner (98-105), and Bailey Sprague (110-117).

The tournament will conclude on Tuesday afternoon from Miami Shores, where the Sailfish look to improve upon their scores from Day one.  Stay tuned for more scores upon completion of the Barry University Lady Bucs’ Invitational.
