WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic baseball rode another impressive offensive performance to victory on Thursday night, getting a 4-for-5 showing from Andrew Calderone that included two doubles, a triple and a home run to take down Southern Connecticut State University 14-4 at Rubin Park.
Calderone started off the second inning with his first double of the day and started a six-run rally for the Sailfish. Pat Kane, Chris Farrell and Peter Rivera all drove home runs in the inning, and Jason Webb capped off the frame with a bases-loaded double to drive in two more.
The Stuart, Fla. native would go on to double to lead off the third inning and launched his second homer of the season into the night in the sixth. To cap off the offensive explosion the sophomore added an RBI triple in the seventh inning in his final at bat.
With the game in firm control, Josh Turner (Win, 2-3) pitched five innings allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out seven and walking only two. The combination of David Paull, Matt Bell, Murrell Winter, and Sam Dillon each pitched an inning apiece to close out the game for the ‘Fish.
Joining Calderone in the hit parade was Brian Walker, who went 3-for-5, as well as Kane, Visconti, Farrell and Webb who each knocked two hits.
Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action on Saturday when they host Molloy College at 2:00 pm and then turn around to welcome University of New Haven at 6:00 pm.
