SEBRING, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s golf team concluded play at the 5th Annual Warner University Invitational on Tuesday afternoon with a tremendous showing, finishing third as a team out of the ten team field and Luke Johanson also placing second as an individual.
With a one stroke lead on Tampa for third place entering the final day of the tournament, the ‘Fish finished with two solid rounds to create an eight shot gap between them and the final six teams.
PBA finished with a tournament score of 900 (301-300-299), which is the lowest three-round tournament score a Sailfish team has posted in the NCAA Division II era. NCAA No. 2 ranked Barry University won the tournament, finishing with a total score of 869 (299-282-288).
PBA was led by Freshman Luke Johanson, whose final round of a 4-under par 68 was the lowest round of any participant in the tournament and propelled him all the way up to second on the overall leaderboard.
Several Sailfish golfers turned in solid scorecards for the tournament as Johanson (73-74-68, 215), was followed by Ben Murray (75-76-77, 228), Andy Peterson (80-76-76, 232), Daniel Langley (78-74-81, 233), and Trent Harris (75-80-78, 233). All five Sailfish golfers finished in the top 30 of the overall leaderboard.
PBA will return to the course on March 10, when they travel to Jack Beach, Florida to take part in the Butler Bulldog Invitational.
