ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s basketball couldn’t shake off the rust from their three week hiatus against Eckerd, finishing out the 2014-15 season on the road Saturday afternoon and falling to the Tritons 66-50 at the McArther Center.
Having not played since a February 7th win over Barry University, PBA went scoreless over the first six minutes of the opening half. EC held a lead as big as 21 points during the first stanza, holding the Sailfish to just 21% (7-for-33) from the floor while shooting 39% (13-for-33) themselves.
The second half was a different story, with Palm Beach Atlantic coming out and holding their own against the 22-6 Tritons. Though the ‘Fish still shot just 28% (9-for-32) from the floor and 17% (2-for-12) from behind the arc, PBA outscored Eckerd 27-24 in the second half. Unfortunately the Tritons’ lead was too much to overcome, and the hosts actually put together a better shooting percentage in the second half at 41% from the floor (9-for-22) to lead to the 16-point win.
Palm Beach Atlantic was led in scoring by senior Denisa Domiterova who finished her one-year PBA career with a 14 point performance. She was joined in double digits by Nina Krstic and Ayanna Holmes, who added 11 and 10 points respectively.
The Sailfish finish the 2014-15 campaign with a record of 9-17 and wins over SSC foes Florida Southern, Barry and Top 25 ranked Nova Southeastern.
