PBA Tennis Programs Remain Nationally Ranked by the ITA

SKILLMAN, N.J.- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released their first Division II national team rankings of 2015 on Friday morning with both the Sailfish men’s and women’s teams represented. The Palm Beach Atlantic women are now ranked No. 8 in the South Region and No. 32 nationally while the men’s team stands at No. 9 in the South Region and No. 37 nationally.

The women’s team is off to a 4-4 start which includes wins over No. 45 Florida Southern, No. 44 Florida Tech and No. 43 University of Tampa. They have also picked up a non-region win over York (Canada) University.

Their losses so far this season have all come at the hands of top-10 ranked teams which includes No. 2 Barry University, No. 9 Rollins College, No. 3 Saint Leo University and No. 5 Lynn University.

Up next on the schedule for the PBA women’s tennis team is a road match on Saturday, Feb. 28th at St. Thomas University and a home match on Sunday, March 1st versus NCAA Division I, Duquesne University.

Armstrong State University sits atop the ITA women’s national rankings.

On the men’s side, the Sailfish move up four spots from their ITA preseason rank of No. 41 as they currently stand at 1-2. Their victory was against Florida Tech on February 6th when they defeated the Panthers by a 5-3 margin. Their two losses came at the hands of No. 13 Rollins and No. 9 Lynn.

The University of West Florida is ranked at the top of the ITA men’s rankings.

They will also take on St. Thomas and Duquesne University this weekend with Sunday’s match slated to begin at 1 pm.
