WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic baseball stayed hot on Monday night, getting a spectacular outing from sophomore Tyler Scheuer on the hill and taking advantage of some timely hitting to down NCBWA No. 5 ranked Nova Southeastern 4-2 from Rubin Park.

The win marked the first victory for PBA at Rubin Park.

Scheuer (Win, 1-1), allowed just two runs on four hits over seven innings of work for the Sailfish, notching his first win of the season.

Palm Beach Atlantic got on the board that started with a lead-off single from Brian Walker. Freshman Kyle Simon rocked a double to left-center field that scored Walker from first, and Simon was then plated by Peter Rivera who sent a single into right field. Senior Jason Webb then came through with a two-out single that plated Rivera and gave the ‘Fish a three run cushion.

The Sailfish and Scheuer were cruising into the sixth inning when Nova Southeastern scored two runs on three weakly hit balls that miraculously found holes.

With the lead cut down to one, reliever Eric Russell entered the game with a pair of runners aboard and only one out in the eighth inning. After walking the first batter he faced to load the bases, Russell got a strikeout of the Sharks’ cleanup man and induced an infield fly out to get out of the jam.

PBA got a big run back in the home half of the eighth when Sean Visconti drew a two-out walk and then scored on a Walker double. With a two-run advantage Russell closed out the ninth inning in order.

Walker, Simon and Rivera each went 2-for-4 on the night, while all three each scored and drove in a run.

PBA returns to action on Friday night at 6:00 pm when they travel to Florida Southern College to take on the Mocs in a three-game series.
