WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s tennis team welcomed another tough customer to the Mitch Gornto Tennis Complex Friday evening, with ITA No. 3 ranked Saint Leo coming to town and sweeping away the Sailfish, 9-0.

Most of the matches were close on the evening, starting with some intense doubles action. No. 1 pairing Veena Vasquez and Valerie Nagovitcina fell 9-7 to Saint Leo’s top pair, while No. 2’s Leyla Taracena and Maja Jovic came up just short against the Lions’ duo, 6-8.

The Lions swept away the singles matches as well, with PBA winning just one set along the way. Jovic won her first set against Pauline Helgesson 6-4, then fell in the next two 6-7 (3) and 8-10.

Palm Beach Atlantic has no easy task in trying to rebound from the loss, as they host ITA No. 5 ranked Lynn University on Tuesday, February 24th at 5:00 pm.
