WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s tennis team continued their strong start to the season on Sunday afternoon, taking down the University of Tampa 5-4 from the Mitch Gornto Tennis Complex.

For the second day in a row, PBA put together a complete team performance, winning four of six singles matches and coming away with one doubles win. Today’s win came against a Spartans squad that is ranked No. 37 nationally and No. 10 regionally by the ITA.

Leyla Taracena and Michaela Mignemi have continued to play well together as the No. 3 doubles, winning their pairing 8-3. They’ve also played well on the individual side, with Taracena playing as No. 4 singles Sunday and winning 6-2, 6-1 and Mignemi playing as No. 6 singles and winning 6-0, 6-4.

Also picking up victories in singles were Ana Reich at No. 5, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4, and senior Veena Vasquez at No. 1 by scores of 6-7, 6-3, 6-4.

The victory moves Palm Beach Atlantic to 3-0 on the season. They’ll return to the courts on Tuesday, February 10th when they travel to Miami Shores to take on ITA No. 1 ranked Barry University.
