PBA Downs FIT in Home Debut

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis team was locked in a marathon battle with the Florida Tech Panthers on Friday, but ultimately came out victorious over the visitors 5-3 from the Mitch Gornto Tennis Complex.
FIT opened up the dual match by taking two of three in the doubles competition. PBA’s combination of Asti Adams and Nicholas Battistini defeated the No. 3 pairing of Corona and Armellino in easy fashion, 8-2.
Trailing 2-1 overall, the Sailfish showed their prowess in the singles side of the match. No. 1 Nicolas Uryson defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-4, while No. 2 Romain Nowaczyk tossed aside his adversary 6-4, 6-4. With Mark Heimberger grabbing a 6-4, 6-4 win and Battistini overpowering his challenger 6-3, 6-3, PBA held a 5-2 advantage.
Adams battled to the limits in his singles match, winning the first set 7-6, falling in the second 4-6, and leading 3-1 before the match was called and the victory was granted to Palm Beach Atlantic.
PBA will now endure over two weeks without competition, returning to action at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Complex on Tuesday, February 24th against Lynn University.
