Sailfish Fall at No. 13 Tars To Open Up 2015 Season

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis team opened up the 2015 season with a tough match, falling to ITA No. 13 Rollins College 7-2 from the Martin Tennis Complex.

The Tars are the No. 13 team in the country while ranked No. 6 in the South Region. They also have two nationally ranked singles players and the No. 19 ranked doubles tandem.

Asti Adams was a major contributor for the Sailfish on Saturday afternoon as the only member of the team to win in singles in his victory over Jacobo Herrero, while also teaming up with Nicholas Battistini in doubles for the victory. The junior won 6-1, 6-7, 10-6 in singles, while the duo defeated Rollins’ pair 8-5.

Pairing at No. 1 doubles for PBA was Nicholas Uryson and Romain Nowaczyk, who fell 8-3 in the season’s opening match. No. 2 pairing of Mark Heimberger and Matt Leads fell 8-4.

Uryson, who is the ITA’s No. 47 ranked singles player, lost to No. 10 ranked Anton Bettink in singles 6-1, 7-5. Nowaczyk fell in a great match with Patrick Sell 6-4, 4-6, 10-7.

Palm Beach Atlantic is back in action on Friday, February 6th at 3:30 pm when they open up the 2015 home season at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Complex at the Rinker Athletic Campus against Florida Tech.
