The two teams played a tight contest from the opening tip, with neither team leading by more than seven the entire way. There were six lead changes throughout the course of the night, with the ultimate lead falling in the hands of the Fighting Knights with just seconds remaining in the game. PBA’s full-court effort at the buzzer never came to fruition, and the home fans went home disappointed.
Looking at the stat sheet would reveal some lines that would normally lead to victory for PBA, with the hosts shooting 48% (23-for-48) from the floor compared to Lynn’s 38% (24-for-63), and connecting on 10-of-21 (48%) from downtown compared to LU’s 6-for-23 (26%). However, there were two big discrepancies in the game: the free throw line and turnover margin.
Palm Beach Atlantic finished the game at 40% (4-for-10) from the charity stripe while Lynn, only slightly better, shot 60% (9-for-15). The Sailfish also turned the ball over 22 times in the game while forcing the Fighting Knights into 15.
Evin Graham led all scorers on the night with 17 points, while birthday boy Ronnell Ross put together another great effort in the form of 13 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists. Junior Michael Simpson added nine points and five boards in the game, knocking down three triples along the way.
The Sailfish return to action on Saturday evening when they travel north to take on the University of Tampa from the Bob Martinez Center, tentatively scheduled for 4 pm.
