Sailfish Struggle With No. 8 Bucs on the Road, Fall 83-66

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s basketball team ran into a buzz saw in No. 8 Barry University on Saturday evening, falling 83-66 to the Buccaneers on Saturday evening from the Health and Sports Center.
PBA fell behind early and was never able to fully recover against BU, with the host jumping out to a 44-22 lead at the break. The Sailfish shot just 27% (9-for-33) in the opening half, while the Buccaneers shot 50% (16-for-32) from the floor.
Things got interesting midway through the second half, when Palm Beach Atlantic cut the deficit down to just 14 points, but Barry pulled away in the end to the victory. The Sailfish got their defense together, holding the Buccaneers to 37% (13-for-35) in the second stanza while shooting a blistering 53% (18-for-34).
Palm Beach Atlantic out-rebounded Barry 43-37, marking the first time this season that the No. 8 Buccaneers have been outrebounded this season. The Bucs forced the ‘Fish into 18 turnovers while committing over seven of their own and also dished out 22 assists.
The Sailfish had four players score in double-digits on the night, led by senior Evin Graham who scored 17. Clayton Williams added 14 points and six boards, Garet Tucker scored 13 and pulled down 7 rebounds, and Nigel Sydnor tallied 10 points and dished out eight assists.
PBA returns to action on Wednesday evening when they play host to Palm Beach County rival Lynn University at 7:30 pm.
