WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men’s basketball had another battle on their hands Saturday night, with the Saint Leo Lions grinding out the victory 47-44 at the Rubin Arena.
With under 10 seconds on the clock at the end of the game, the Sailfish had a chance to tie the score with a three but were unable to get a quality shot thanks to the stingy Lions defense.
PBA, who hadn’t played since last Friday due to finals week, struggled shooting from the floor all night, shooting 36% (19-for-53) for the game and just 13% (2-for-16) from beyond the three-point line. Even the charity stripe was harsh for the ‘Fish, shooting just 44% (4-for-9) in the game.
Saint Leo held a two-point advantage at the break, but came out and shot 50% (9-for-18) from the floor in the second stanza to help lift the visitors to victory.
The loss was the first at home for Palm Beach Atlantic for the season.
Senior Ronnell Ross was the only Sailfish to score double-digits Saturday night, scoring 11 points while also bringing down a team-best 7 rebounds before fouling out. Fellow senior Evin Graham had nine points and four assists in 35 minutes of play.
Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action on Tuesday, December 16th when they travel to Maryland to take on Bowie State at 7 pm.
