Wednesday’s matchup versus the Choctaws (12-6-2), a NCAA provisional member from the Gulf South Conference, saw the two teams meet for the first time.
A balanced and well played first-half from both sides looked to be a 0-0 stalemate into halftime until sophomore Lucas Coutinho found Pena for a score just inside the right post as the ‘Fish gladly took a 1-0 lead into the break.
From there it was a strong defensive effort for PBA led by junior goalkeeper Steeven Raymont who posted his second straight shutout after earning a 4-0 win on Tuesday over Roberts Wesleyan College.
In the end it was a 14-7 advantage in shots for the Sailfish while each team was whistled for 11 fouls.
