PBA Cruises By UPR Rio-Piiedras 74-24

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s basketball rebounded from a slight two-game losing streak in big fashion on Wednesday afternoon, cruising by the University of Puerto Rico Rio-Piedras by a 74-24 final from the Rubin Arena.
The Sailfish jumped ahead early and used a combination of efficient scoring and stifling defense to shut the Gallitos down. UPR Rio-Piedras shot just 23% (6-for-26) in the first half while PBA shot 46% (15-for-33) from the floor. Nkiru Anyagaligbo paced the first half with 12 points while Nikkira Brown and Denesa Domiterova each chipped in eight.
PBA’s second half was more of the same, with UPR Rio-Piedras shooting just 23% (9-for-26) from the floor. For the game, the Gallitos finished at 23% (11-for-48) from the floor for the game and just 8% (2-for-25) from beyond the three-point line. The Sailfish finished the game at 41% (24-for-59) from the floor and 35% (6-for-17) from beyond the arc.
Anyagaligbo finished with 12 points and also pulled down nine rebounds. Sophomore Taylor Buchanan had 11 points and was joined in double-digits by Domiterova who had 10. Junior Nina Krstic led the way on the rebounding front with 11 boards and also had eight points. All Sailfish who dressed for the game found their way into the scorebook.
Palm Beach Atlantic dominated all statistical categories for the game, outrebounding Puerto Rico Rio-Piedras 53-21, while also forcing the Gallitos into 21 turnovers.
PBA returns to action on Friday for the Marriott Thanksgiving Tournament when they host Armstrong State in the Rubin Arena at 2 pm.
