FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s soccer team wrapped up the 2014 season on the road at Emmanuel College on Saturday night, falling to the Lions 2-1 in overtime from Stephens Field.
After EC broke open the scoring in the 24th minute, PBA came back and scored on a header by Karina White off a corner kick from Kasey Wyer. The score would stay the same for the rest of the half and for the entirety of the second stanza.
Unfortunately for Palm Beach Atlantic, overtime hasn’t treated them well this season and tonight was no different. Emmanuel drove home the game-winner in just the second minute of the OT, giving the Sailfish their fifth overtime loss on the season.
For the second night in a row the Sailfish dominated the shot totals, doubling up the Lions 14-7. They also outdrew the hosts in corner kicks at 11-4, but the home team turned away nine shots on goal and pulled out the late victory.
The loss marks the end of the 2014 campaign for PBA, who finishes with a 3-11-1 record.
