WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic had their 2014 senior night spoiled by the visiting University of Tampa on Thursday evening, falling to the Spartans 2-1 in front of 384 loyal fans at the Rinker Athletic Campus.

On a night celebrating PBA’s four seniors, Kierstyn Harrington, Marissa Pacheco, Laura Geisler and Moriah Zusi, it was Pacheco who put the Sailfish on the board in just the fifth minute of the game. After great build-up that was orchestrated by Kasey Wyer, Pacheco poked a shot to the right of the keeper and in for her first goal of the season.

UT, who is ranked just outside of the NSCAA Top 25, got the equalizer in the 25th minute on Lauren Moore’s ninth goal of the season.

The game remained tied into the second half until the 67th minute when a Kaley Ward free kick from in front of the Tampa bench was deflected in by Madison Cox for the go-ahead mark.

Kayla Wincko had yet another strong game in between the pipes for the Sailfish, stopping seven of nine shots on the night. Overall, the Spartans outshot PBA 25-9 and also outdrew them in corners 12-4.

With the home schedule wrapped up, Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action Friday, November 7th in South Carolina when they take on Southern Wesleyan University.
