WINTER PARK, Fla.- The Sailfish men’s soccer team took another hard-fought loss on Tuesday night as they fell 2-1 to Rollins College at Barker Family Stadium. A game-tying goal midway through the second-half by Palm Beach Atlantic’s Cameron Roberts gave the ‘Fish hope but a game-winning strike in the 84th minute sunk their chances at a win as Rollins held on for victory.
Neither team found the back of the net until the 31st minute of the contest when Rollins’ (10-4-1) duo of Skyler Russell and Grant Blackhurst connected for a goal on a Russell corner kick.
The ‘Fish and Tars each registered five shots in the opening half with PBA being whistled for eight fouls compared to just one for RC.
Roberts’ registered the equalizer for Palm Beach Atlantic (6-6-3) in the 77th minute on a feed from teammate Lucas Coutinho as the Sailfish broke their recent scoring drought with a blast off the foot off of Roberts who returned from injury.
Just over five minutes later the Tars would come away with the scoring opportunity they would need as Alexis Martinez delivered the game-winner. Tosan Popo and Rob Crowley assisted on the goal for RC.
The Sailfish ended the match as the shots leader with an 11-9 overall lead while also out gaining the Tars in corner kicks at 5-4.
Palm Beach Atlantic will host their final home match on Saturday, Nov. 1st as they welcome in Ave Maria University for a 7 pm showdown at the Rinker Athletic Campus.
