WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer has had its share of international flare to it over the past few seasons, and adding to that this season has been freshman defender Jerry Saint-Vil. The Haiti native took part in the Haitian National Team’s U-20 tryout earlier this week and was one of six players to be named to the roster.
After flying to Haiti, Saint-Vil was part of a tryout that included over 20 players all vying for six spots. When the two days of training and try-outs were finished, Jerry received the good news that he would get to represent his country.
Saint-Vil has a history of playing for the Haitian National Team, having played for the U15, U16, and U17 teams before moving to the United States. He graduated from Jupiter High School in 2014 and is a freshman on the PBA squad.
The Haitian U20 will be participating in a local tournament in November to help prepare for a larger international tournament in Mexico in 2015 in which Saint-Vil will play a part in.
Head Sailfish coach Brian McMahon said, “This really could not have happened to a better kid. Jerry is always respectful, polite, and a great ingredient for our team chemistry.” He added, “I’m extremely excited for Jerry to be able to represent his home country.”
