WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – PBA women’s basketball head coach Carlos Palacio has announced the upcoming 2014-15 schedule which includes a challenging slate against South Region opponents as well as a trip to Colorado to kick off the season.
The Sailfish, who add six new players to the roster for the upcoming year, open up the season with a two-game trip to Colorado to take on perennial power Colorado Mesa University as well as Colorado Christian University.
Upon their return, Palm Beach Atlantic will host six consecutive home games which includes the first annual 2014 Thanksgiving Classic where the Sailfish will take on Armstrong Atlantic and Clayton State. Also included in the initial homestand are south region foes Florida Tech and Tampa.
December includes five games away from the Rubin Arena, including the Florida Tech Holiday Classic where PBA will once again compete against Shaw University as well as Le Moyne College. The month wraps up with a New Year’s Eve game at Palm Beach County rival Lynn University.
PBA will host five home games during the month of January, settling into a second-semester schedule that includes twelve-straight matchups against Sunshine State Conference opponents.
Senior day will be celebrated on February 7th with Barry University coming to town, and the season finale will be played two weeks later on the road at Eckerd College.
There are only 46 days left before the season gets underway!
Coach Palacio said about the schedule, "I cannot be more excited to see how the team responds to this challenging schedule. The opportunity to travel to Denver and play Colorado Mesa and Colorado Christian on opening weekend will be a great experience on and off the court for the team." He added, "We are excited to host the first Thanksgiving Tournament and welcome regional powers Clayton State and Armstrong Atlantic as well as continuing our tradition of playing Shaw University. I feel that having the opportunity to play several home games early in the season will benefit us greatly as we prepare for the second half of the season as we play only Sunshine State Conference teams."
