Box Score

Lakeland, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s soccer has suffered its share of heartbreak in overtime this season, but on Saturday night they pulled a 2-2 draw with NSCAA No. 22 Florida Southern College on the road.

Junior Elizabeth Gonzalez got the Sailfish on the scoreboard with her first goal of the season in the 18th minute of play, assisted by Kasey Wyer. It looked as if PBA would take that lead into halftime when the Mocs tied the score in the last minute of play in the half.

After the break, it was Palm Beach Atlantic once again moving ahead with a goal from Freshman Monica Rojas in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, Florida Southern was able to come right back and score on a penalty kick in the next minute.

With the score tied at 2-2, the game went to overtime in Lakeland. Each team put together chances in both of the extra periods, but ultimately neither was able to find the golden goal.

FSC outshot PBA by a 24-10 margin overall, but managed just nine shots on goal compared to Palm Beach Atlantic’s eight. The Moccasins were able to outdraw corners on the Sailfish as well by an 8-5 margin.

Palm Beach Atlantic moves to 2-4-1 on the season. Stats for this match will be made available as soon as possible.

The Sailfish have a long break in the schedule now before returning to the pitch on October 8th on the road at Saint Leo, starting at 7 PM.
