Men's Golf Partakes In First Tournament of the Fall

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic’s men’s golf team participated in their first tournament of the fall season at the beginning of the week, taking eighth place in the 11-team event.

The first two days of the round saw the Sailfish card identical 303 scores, led by freshman Luke Johanson shot even par 72 on day one and +1 73 on day two. The final round team score of 307 brought the PBA total to 913, six strokes back of seventh place Embry-Riddle University.

Hosts Johnson & Wales took first place with a three-day score of 855, defeating second place Eastern Florida State by just seven strokes (862). Webber International finished with an 874 total for third, followed by Southeastern University who carded a 903 for fourth. Fifth place was a tie between St. Thomas University and the University of Mobile who both finished with scores of 904.

Johansen shot a final round 76 to bring his three-day score to 221, tied for 15th in the tournament. The other scores for Palm Beach Atlantic were turned in by Sean Boyle (70-81-79-230), Miquel Larocque (80-73-78-231), and Dylan Allen (79-74-78-231).

Three individuals from the Sailfish squad participated in the tournament as well, with Ben Murray leading the way among them, tying for 22nd with a 224 (72-79-73).

Both the men’s and women’s golf teams will hit the links at nearby PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens for the Guy Harvey Invitational hosted by Nova Southeastern University, October 5-7.
