BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer team followed up Tuesday evening’s draw versus Florida Tech with a tough 3-1 setback at the hands of Lee (Tenn.) University on Friday night as part of a busy weekend of soccer for the Sailfish side. The ‘Fish and Flames entered the second-half scoreless but it was Lee who would kick start their offense to the tune of a 2-0 lead that matured into a 3-1 final tally.

The Sailfish (1-1-1) and Flames (3-0-1) are both participants in the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort Soccer Classic as PBA will do battle with Shorter (Ga.) University on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 while LU will take on the host-Lynn University Fighting Knights in the evening.

Friday night’s contest witnessed both teams exercise early chances but not find the back of the net until nearly the 70th minute when LU forward David Perez earned his team a 1-0 lead via an unassisted strike.

Teammate Quade Marinell was next to score for the Flames off a Gabe Franco corner kick just under four minutes later for what would look like a commanding 2-0 lead in a defensive stalemate through the first-half.

Palm Beach Atlantic senior Daniel Pena would provide some hope for ‘Fish fans ten minutes later as his second goal of the 2014 campaign cut the LU lead to 2-1 with just a few minutes remaining on the clock.

Perhaps catching the Sailfish off-balance with their hopes of pushing forward for an equalizer, Perez once again found paydirt just two minutes after the PBA score with his second goal of the night to put his team out to a more comfortable and final margin of 3-1.

The Sailfish led the Flames in total shots (16-9) for the match while doubling up on their opponent (10-5) in the second-half totals.

Steeven Raymont took the loss in goal for PBA as he made four saves for the night.
