ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s soccer started their 2014 campaign on Friday afternoon in tough fashion, surrendering two second half goals on the way to a 3-1 defeat to Nova Southeastern at the Flagler College Tournament.
The game started in fine fashion with the Sailfish taking an early 1-0 lead on a header by junior Kasey Wyer off a feed from newcomer Kayla Fisher. Unfortunately, the Sharks would get the equalizer less than a minute later and send the game tied into the half.
Nova Southeastern got their second half goal amidst a barrage of shots against PBA goalie Kayla Wincko. The sophomore keeper stopped six shots in the second half after having to make five saves in the first stanza. The shot count heavily favored Nova in both attempted shots (24-7) and shots on goal (14-2). Eventually, NSU snuck passed two goals later in the half to put the finishing touches on the Sailfish.
Palm Beach Atlantic returns to the pitch Sunday , September 7th at 11 AM to take on Catawba College at the Flagler College Tournament.
