SKILLMAN, N.J.- Sophomore men’s tennis player Nicolas Uryson continued to add to his impressive list of accomplishments for the 2013-14 year by being named earlier this week as the South Region Player to Watch by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The No. 2-singles player and a part of the team’s No. 1-doubles tandem, Uryson provides the ‘Fish with a strong player for years to come.
His selection as the South Region’s Player to Watch speaks to Uryson’s strong future on the tennis court as he will look to continue to build upon his solid first season with the Sailfish this past year. He joins Jessica Wharton and Veena Vasquez from the PBA women’s tennis team as ITA honorees after Wharton earned the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sportsmanship & Leadership Award while Vasquez earned the Player to Watch distinction on the women’s side.
Uryson hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina and concluded the season as a NCCAA All-American in both singles and doubles. His final singles record was 16-6 on the season while putting together a 17-9 overall doubles mark.
