BOCA RATON, Fla. – Joel Buchko went 2-for-4 and Andres Vazquez launched his fifth homer of the year, but it wasn’t enough for Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday afternoon, as Lynn University defeated the Sailfish 9-6 in what ended up being the season finale from the Lynn Baseball Field.

In what was originally scheduled to be a double-header, rain came through the Boca Raton area and washed out the second game.

Lynn scored four runs in the second inning, but PBA came back with a run in the third and three more in the fourth. Buchko rocked an RBI double to deep left-center to cap the scoring in the frame.

After the Fighting Knights came back to take the lead in the sixth, Vazquez sent a moonshot of a round-tripper beyond the left field wall to once again put the Sailfish ahead.

The lead didn’t last long for Palm Beach Atlantic, with Lynn tallying three runs in the bottom of the seventh and adding an insurance run in the eighth.

Aside from Buchko’s 2-for-4 day, which also included a walk, Vazquez, Ryan Gerber, and Brian Walker also tallied multi-hit games.

With the final game washed away, PBA’s season ends with a record of 16-31-1.
