Softball Moves Up Again; Sailfish Named No. 22 in Latest NFCA Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The Sailfish softball team continued its streak of being named in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) coaches poll to five weeks straight on Wednesday while moving up to No. 22 in this week’s poll. Palm Beach Atlantic continues its climb to a program-best national ranking this week and now sports a 22-7 overall record.
The team is fresh off a double-header split with Florida Tech on Wednesday evening as the ‘Fish dropped the front end of the series 5-0 before fighting back for a 5-1 game two victory.
PBA will not be back in action until Tuesday, April 1st when they travel to Nova Southeastern University for a matchup with the Sharks at 5 pm.
This week’s national poll saw West Texas A&M University (27-4) remain atop the rankings with 396 points while California Baptist (30-7) moved up a spot to No. 2 in the rankings with 379 points. Armstrong Atlantic State University (24-6) at 358 points also moves up one spot.
Last week’s No. 2-ranked team, the University of Alabama-Huntsville (21-5) drops to No. 8 this week with 295 points while fellow South Region member, the University of Tampa (23-4), moves from No. 10 all the way to No. 4 this week.
Valdosta State University (27-8) is the only other South Region institution in the top-25 as the Blazers sit at No. 18 in this week’s poll with 135 points. PBA received 65 points in this week’s rankings.
