MELBOURNE, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic lost a three-run lead in the ninth inning and fell in extras 8-7 to the University of Montevallo on Wednesday afternoon from Seminick-Hall Field on the campus of Florida Tech.

The Sailfish had built a 6-3 lead going into the final frame before the Falcons rallied to tie the score. Dominick Monda (Loss, 2-1) had a rare off night on the mound, walking five and hitting five over two and two-thirds innings of work.

PBA built their lead early on thanks to single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings. The big offensive burst came in the form of a three-run seventh frame, where three hits and two UM errors gave the Sailfish the lead.

The offense pounded out 15 hits and drew four walks over the course of the contest, with Ryan Gerber leading the way with a 3-for-3 night. Brian Walker, Chris Farrell, Andres Vazquez and Ryan Drew all had two-hit performances in the losing effort.

Freshman starter Tyler Scheuer tossed six and one-third innings on the day, giving up three runs on five hits in the quality start.

Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action this weekend hosting Nova Southeastern University from the Roger Dean Stadium Complex, beginning on Friday night at 6 PM.
