Box Score

LANTANA, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic was stymied on offense Friday night and despite getting a top-notch defensive performance, fell 5-2 at the hands of the visiting St. Thomas Bobcats at the Santaluces Baseball Complex.

St. Thomas starter Eddie Cody (Win, 4-1) went the distance for the Bobcats, allowing just two runs while scattering seven hits.

The heart of the lineup did most of the damage for Palm Beach Atlantic during the game, with six of the seven hits coming from the two, three, and four spots in the order. Patrick Nickler finished the game with two extra-base hits and Joel Buchko finished 3-for-4 with a double.

PBA received a quality start from Alex Greener (Loss, 0-5), who allowed three runs over six innings of work, striking out five and walking just one. Unfortunately, those three runs were all the Bobcats needed on the night.

Defensively the Sailfish shined, getting multiple “web gem” worthy plays out of Chris Farrell at third base and Brian Walker at second.

Fortunately, the two teams will get right back to action on Saturday afternoon, with Palm Beach Atlantic hosting St. Thomas for the double-header finale, beginning at 3 PM from the Santaluces Baseball Complex.
