LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The Palm Beach Atlantic softball team continues to make an impression on the rest of the country with their fast start as they are in the receiving votes section of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) top-25 coaches poll for a second consecutive week. West Texas A&M University (20-2) remains atop the NFCA poll this week with 390 total points just narrowly outgaining the University of Alabama-Huntsville (15-2) who earned 389 total points. West Texas A&M and UAH earned eight and seven first place votes respectively with the final first-place vote in the poll belonging to California Baptist University who earned 356 total points and a No. 3-ranking.

The NFCA coaches poll is put together each week by 16 nation-wide voters including two from each of the eight NCAA Division II regions.

Other NCAA South Region teams to earn recognition in the poll were the University of Tampa (No. 13, 209 points), Valdosta State (No. 18, 114 points) and Barry University (No. 23, 58 points). Florida Tech, who sat at No. 18 in last week’s poll before dropping both ends of a double-header to PBA are right behind the Sailfish in this week’s poll with 14 points while the University of North Alabama collected four points.

Now 14-2 after a win over Nova Southeastern University on Wednesday evening before rain shortened the double-header the Sailfish have a big weekend coming up as they open Spring Break at the Saint Leo University Tournament.

PBA will battle four teams on Sat.-Sun., Mar. 8-9 in Saint Leo, Fla. including a nationally-ranked opponent in Armstrong Atlantic State University who earns the No. 6 spot in this week’s NFCA poll and sports an 11-5 record.
